Three words to describe Braziers Park?

Utopia for realists.

Could you tell us about your role and responsibilities at Braziers?

My role as Administrator and Events Coordinator includes organising and supporting events – from workshops and retreats to festivals – and making sure everything runs smoothly for both guests and the resident community. I handle bookings, logistics, and communications, and work closely with facilitators. I’m also involved in developing creative ways to connect our current activities with Braziers heritage.

Behind the scenes, I create many spreadsheets and agreements to help keep things running smoothly, but the part I love most is welcoming people in, helping ideas take root, and watching people and projects grow.

Oh, and the Archive! I have a real soft spot for Braziers’ rich history – digging into the past is one of my favourite parts of the job.

How would you describe the community at Braziers?

The Braziers Community is made up of people who live together in the house and on the estate, sharing daily life. We focus on cooperation and community, but we do not expect everyone to believe the same things. What we do ask is that people respect each other, value the individual, and are open to listening and exploring ideas together.

Visitors are always welcome, and we hope they enjoy the calm, peaceful atmosphere of the house. Some of our courses offer the chance to get involved in community life and take part in the work we do here.

Our courses are a great way to pick up new skills, explore social and environmental issues, and meet like-minded people. One of our core aims is to explore what it really means to live well — and for us, learning and teaching go both ways. We learn a lot from the people who come here, and we encourage everyone to share their thoughts, experiences and insights.

We believe in lifelong learning. For us, adult education is about more than just gaining knowledge — it’s a chance to open up new perspectives, spark creativity, and nourish the spirit.

Braziers began as an experiment in living more harmoniously together — especially by trying to avoid rigid thinking or taking sides. It’s not always quick or easy, but we’ve found that through careful listening and open conversation, we grow more understanding of each other — and that can become a way of life.
