Preserving Our Legacy: Support Braziers Park’s Next 75 Years

As we celebrate 75 years of Braziers Park—one of the UK’s oldest secular communities—we reflect with gratitude on our history and continued purpose. Set within 55 acres of countryside in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, our listed buildings are a lasting expression of a community built on learning, cooperation, and sustainable living.

A recent condition report has highlighted serious repair and maintenance needs across the site. Without timely intervention, parts of our historic buildings risk further deterioration. Over the next ten years, we need to raise £1.5 million to carry out essential conservation work and preserve this place for the future.

This work will involve specialist stonemasons and conservators, as well as detailed surveys to help us plan responsibly for the long term. We also want to improve how we share our history with others—through printed materials, signage, and educational resources that make the site more accessible and easier to understand.

Beyond preserving our physical structures, we are equally committed to sustaining Braziers Park’s educational mission as a registered charity. Since its founding, Braziers has been a centre for alternative education, holistic thinking, and sustainable living—providing space for reflection, learning, and experimentation beyond conventional models. In today’s turbulent environmental, political, and social climate, this work is more urgent than ever. We are seeking support not only for conservation, but also to develop and deliver educational programmes that empower people to explore new ideas, forge meaningful connections, and build resilient, sustainable relationships—with one another and with the world around them.

In 2024 alone, nearly 7,000 people visited Braziers Park—for workshops, events, retreats, and volunteering opportunities. Behind the scenes, our residents, volunteers, employees, and trustees work tirelessly to care for the site and minimise our impact on the land. But due to the age and fragility of our buildings, this is no longer enough. We need to act now to secure Braziers’ future.

By donating, you’ll help us carry out urgent conservation work and continue our role as a space for learning, reflection, and community. With your help, we can ensure Braziers Park remains active and welcoming—not just for the next ten years, but for generations to come.
