Community Coordinator & ResidentCould you tell us a bit about yourself, your interests, and your connection to Braziers Park?
I’m new to Braziers Park, but deeply interested in community and how society is changing. I was attracted to the opportunity to experience and learn within an intentional community which is also outward-facing. Braziers Park is a place where many very different people are living life more fully, and is the incubator and host for so many other fascinating and important movements. I need nature in my life, so the land and wildlife also nourish my soul.
Could you tell us about your role and responsibilities at Braziers?
As the brand new Community Coordinator, I am learning about an already changing and evolving role. I can also build on the impressive work already done by my predecessor, which means it's an opportunity to review, update, and reset expectations. Ask me again in six months!
Could you tell us about your work outside of Braziers?
I've done a confusing range of different things, but a consistent strand has been peace, instability, and development, in different forms. I was a Quaker Peace Worker in South Africa; I’ve worked extensively with refugees and marginalised communities, as well as in aid, development, and impact investing. I've also worked in a lot of preschools, in wildlife and conservation, and in roles managing large teams in technology start-ups. Outside Braziers, I’m exploring how economic abundance collides with infrastructure constraints and urbanisation to create wider social problems.
